Jim Breuer jokes about Damar Hamlin’s collapse at Christian Event

The former Saturday Night Live comedian Jim Breuer joked about Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin suffering a cardiac arrest during a controversial Christian event.

Breuer, who played the human-goat hybrid Goat Boy SNLused the NFL star’s near-death experience to draw laughs at the ReAwaken America tour, which has been described as an event for conservative Christians.

There were plenty of laughs for Breuer as the crowd enjoyed his tongue-in-cheek remarks about flu shots before bringing the house down by mocking Hamlin.

The jokes were widely criticized on social media, with many sharing their surprise and disgust that the material was being used and that people were laughing at it.

The comedian was speaking to an audience at Pastor Greg Locke’s church tent as part of his Global Vision Bible Church, which has preached right-wing rhetoric over the years.

After poking fun at those who have gotten flu shots and joking that those who haven’t been seen as conspiracy theorists and extremists, he changed the subject completely, saying, “Meanwhile in the NFL… “

Breuer then fell flat on his face and remained motionless on the floor, much to the delight of those in the tent who must have thought Hamlin’s collapse after a fight when the Bills faced the Bengals was more of a funny turn of events than such. which first responders had to provide life-saving treatment for 30 minutes in the field.

The prank was condemned on social media, with one person writing: “Jim Breuer makes fun of Damar Hamlin’s collapse in front of a laughing crowd. I can’t find the words to adequately describe this.”

Another added to their disgust, tweeting: “Jim Breuer. I’m not sharing the video of his god awful set at some Christian tent event. His comedy is absolute garbage. Then making fun of Damar Hamlin in your set????? Absolute garbage. How does this dude even consider himself a “comedian?”

While a third wrote: “First, Jim Breuer is an idiot and always has been an idiot.
Second, if you think it’s funny that Damar Hamlin almost died, then you are an irredeemably broken and irredeemable human being.”

The traveling church caused controversy in most of the places it visited, but that didn’t stop Locke from advertising that they brought a message from God.

In July last year, Locke took to social media to attack those he felt were attacking the church’s values, saying they would not go away despite building a consensus against his views.

At the time he wrote: “Public hatred of our church continues to grow. “It’s evil, but make no mistake, we are NOT BACKING DOWN OR BACKING DOWN.”

Hamlin received CPR while being treated for 30 minutes by medical staff during the game before being rushed to a hospital where he was on a ventilator for two days.

By the end of the week, Hamlin had recovered enough to walk around a bit, and the medical staff made sure he was back in Buffalo and closer to his family and teammates.

He was released from the hospital a few days later and is continuing his recovery at home, with his NFL future still in doubt.
